Context: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 75% of the American workforce interacts with the public.  And with 1 in 5 Americans speaking a language other than English (US Census), it is very likely that workers will on occasion interact with someone who speaks a different language than they do. 

Challenge: Though translating tools have come a long way, they are not always accurate or available.  Even when they are, workers need to know some basic strategies of how to communicate effectively in these cases. 

Solution: This Job Aid provides quick tips, which can be learned informally, ready to apply when needed,  or referenced in the moment when a situation arises.
